I know I'm nearby Monterey when I see the dunes of Seaside and Marina, which I lived within for the past 4 1/2 years. |
The wind was kicking up, indicated by all the distant sand in the air. Almost there... |
Finally at Alvarado, and reached the Golden State Theatre! Almost forgot it was the weekly day of Farmer's Market, as it was Tuesday. Had to park a few blocks away. |
My dad putting the tickets away, now purchased. He sits next to Garrison Keillor's advertisement there. The parentals gave quite a nice present, indeed. |
This nice li'l metal piece gives a small history about the theatre, telling how it was the first place on the whole Monterey peninsula to show talking pictures. |
Moi! |
Sun's goin' down soon, just had to throw this pic in. Monterey, after all, is so photographable. |
Enter the theatre. Gosh, it is a beautiful one. |
Here, Kory sits beside me in the top row of the balcony. It really was not that far back, based upon the pictures I was soon to get of Mr. Keillor. |
This light fixture was behind her. Amazing. |
Spectrum. I was particularly fascinated by the blues. |
This sort of wall fixture was on each side of the stage, and was at least ten feet tall. |
Minus the useless boobs that walk in front of it, this pic shows the stage that would soon be in use. |
I tried shooting a photograph through the binoculars I brought (which, might I add, were very helpful), but this was not quite what I was hoping for! |
He arrives. Me so excited! |
He's wearing those trademark red shoes, too! Notice how clear the photo was, despite being taken from THE last row of the balcony. |
Garrison was in constant motion, even if it be a slow bodily wave back and forth. It was difficult as such to get a still picture of him! Here, it looked like he was explaining something. |
Stage lights. |
Perhaps he was singing here? He sang a capella in the beginning and end, and perhaps once or twice here and there during the body of the show. |

I am so glad I filmed his final song, because I got all of it on tape, including an accidental knocking over of the flower table! The AVI file is only of that event (and is more compressed), but the MP3 is purely his song. |
He came back out for an encore bow, but my camera was only quick enough for him walking back. According to Kory, the stage crew were ushering for him to come as soon as the table fell! |
Still up on the 2nd floor, this magnificent chair was just waiting for royalty to sit in it! |
It was a full house, with good reason. |
The exit, located under the chandelier. All of the theater was marvelous, even beyond the seating. |
Had to get a shot of the first floor after it emptied out a bit. There were odd bits on the shot, as if ghosts were located in the theatre... I didn't notice them, however, until downloading them for this site's sake. |
